The cannibals were so frightened by the noise of my gun that they ran away.

He was cold, wet, and very frightened.

I didn’t know his name, so I called him Friday.

나는 그의 이름을 몰랐기에, 그를 프라이데이라고 불렀다.

That day was Friday, and I couldn’t think of a better name.

그날이 금요일이었고, 나는 더 나은 이름을 생각해낼 수 없었다.

I spoke gently to him and smiled a lot.

나는 그에게 상냥하게 말했고, 많이 미소 지었다.

Although he didn’t understand my language, he could see that I was friendly.

He came closer and began to move his hands up and down.

I could tell that he was thanking me for saving his life.

I led him up the hill to my home.

When he finished eating, Friday fell fast asleep on the floor.
