Take a look at some religious paintings.

You'll probably see glowing circles, known as halos, around some of the people's heads.

여러분은 아마도 그 사람들 중 일부의 머리 주위에 있는 후광이라고 알려진 빛나는 원들을 보게 될 것이다.

Halos are usually given to good people such as saints.

후광은 대개 성자들 같은 좋은 사람들에게 주어진다.

The halo effect is related to this.

It occurs when a single good trait influences our judgement.

그것은 한 가지 좋은 특성이 우리의 판단에 영향을 미칠 때 발생한다.

For example, if someone is attractive, we may think they are also kind and smart.

In the same way, if we are satisfied with our smartphones, we might think other products from the same brand also have good qualities.

The opposite can also happen.

This is known as the "horn effect."

After we notice a bad trait, we may focus only on the negative aspects of the person.

Even if we find some positive things about them later, we may not change our negative opinion.

As you can see, the halo effect can lead to inaccurate perceptions.

So when you meet someone new, don't judge them too quickly!
