A scientist walks into her office.

한 과학자가 자신의 연구실로 걸어 들어간다.

There are two jars on her desk.

그녀의 책상 위에는 두 개의 병이 있다.

When she looks inside them, she is very surprised.

그녀가 그 안을 들여다보았을 때, 그녀는 매우 놀랐다.

What happened?

One day, she cooked some rice and put it into two different jars.

어느 날, 그녀는 밥을 지어 두 개의 다른 병에 담았다.

She covered the jars and put them in the same room.

그녀는 병들을 덮어 같은 방에 두었다.

Every day, she said to one of the jars, “You’re nice,” and “You’re beautiful.”

매일, 그녀는 두 병 중 한 병에는 ‘너는 멋져.’ 그리고 ‘너는 아름다워.’라고 말했다.

And to the other jar she said, “You’re not smart,” and “You’re ugly.”

그리고 다른 한 병에는 ‘너는 똑똑하지 않아.’ 그리고 ‘너는 못생겼어.’라고 말했다.

She did this for twenty days and began to notice a big difference between the jars.

The rice in the “positive words” jar/smelled nice, and it was still white.

긍정적인 말’ 병에 있는 밥은 좋은 냄새가 났고, 여전히 흰색이었다.

However, the rice in the “negative words” jar/smelled bad and became dark in color.

하지만, ‘부정적인 말’ 병에 있는 밥은 나쁜 냄새가 났고 색이 검게 변했다.

Sometimes we use negative words instead of positive ones without thinking.
