Money is an important part of our lives.

돈은 우리 삶의 중요한 부분이다.

Many people work hard to earn money, but few people ever think that they have enough.

많은 사람들은 돈을 벌기 위해 열심히 일하지만, 돈이 충분히 있다고 생각하는 사람은 거의 없다.

So, why don’t we just print more money?

그렇다면, 그냥 돈을 더 많이 찍어 내는 것은 어떨까?

Then everyone will have enough!

그러면 모든 사람이 충분히 갖게 될 것이다!

This probably sounds like a silly idea, but it actually happened in Germany.

이것은 아마도 어리석은 생각처럼 들리겠지만, 그 일은 실제로 독일에서 일어났다.

After Germany lost World War I, the country had a lot of debt.

독일이 제1차 세계대전에서 패한 후, 많은 빚을 졌다.

The German government didn’t have enough money, so they came up with a plan.

They decided to print a lot of money to pay off the country’s debt.

Unfortunately, the more money they printed, the faster its value decreased.

Soon, Germany had lots of money, but the amount of goods available was also limited.

This made prices increase and led to terrible situations.

If a family wanted to buy a loaf of bread, they had to bring a whole bag of money to the bakery.

Some people began to find other uses for their worthless money.

Germany thought that printing more money would help the country.
