You probably had a great time making kimchi with your family on Kimjang day and sharing it with neighbors.

Kimjang is a familiar custom for Koreans.

김장은 한국인에게 친숙한 관습이다.

The world began to appreciate the value of Kimjang culture, and in December 2013, UNESCO added Kimjang to the World’s Heritage List.

세계가 김장 문화의 가치를 인정하기 시작했고 2013년 12월에 유네스코는 김장을 세계 문화유산 목록에 추가했다.

Why?

First, Kimjang culture strengthens family ties.

우선, 김장 문화는 가족의 유대를 강화한다.

Every family has a unique kimchi recipe because kimchi is made from locally-grown ingredients.

Also, they generously share their kimchi with people in need.
