Most people around the world have lively New Year’s parties.

But the Balinese welcome their New Year differently.

They celebrate it with Nyepi!

Nyepi is a day of silence.

It takes place on the first day of the Balinese saka calendar.

It starts at 6 a.m. and continues for 24 hours.
