The Tortoise and the Hare: The Full Story

토끼와 거북: 전체 이야기

You have heard or read the story of the tortoise and the hare, haven't you?

여러분은 토끼와 거북이 이야기를 듣거나 읽어본 적이 있습니다, 그렇지 않습니까?

But do you know that the story actually has a sequel?

하지만 그 이야기에 실제로 후편이 있다는 것을 알고 있습니까?

Before getting to that, let's read the first part of the story.

그것을 읽기 전에 이야기의 첫 부분을 먼저 읽어 봅시다.

Once upon a time, a tortoise and a hare had an argument about who was faster.

옛날에 거북이와 토끼가 누가 더 빠른지에 대해 논쟁을 했습니다.

They decided to settle the argument with a race.

그들은 경주로 그 논쟁을 끝내기로 결정했습니다.

They agreed on a route and started the race.

그들은 경주로에 대해 동의하고 경주를 시작했습니다.

The hare shot ahead and ran quickly for some time.

토끼는 앞으로 튀어나가 한동안 빨리 달렸습니다.

Then, knowing that he was far ahead of the tortoise, he thought he would sit under a tree for a short time and relax before continuing the race.

그러고는 그는 거북이보다 훨씬 더 앞에 있다는 사실을 알고 나서 경주를 계속하기 전에 잠시 동안 나무 아래에 앉아서 쉬어야겠다고 생각했습니다.

He sat under the tree and fell asleep.

그는 나무 아래 앉아서 곧 잠이 들었습니다.

While slowly walking on and on, the tortoise overtook him and soon finished the race.

거북이가 계속 천천히 걷는 동안에, 거북이는 그(토끼)를 앞질렀고 곧 경주를 끝냈습니다.

The hare woke up and realized that he had lost the race.

토끼는 잠에서 깼고 그가 경주에서 졌다는 것을 깨달았습니다.

However, from the ending of this part of the story, the sequel starts.

그러나 이야기의 이 부분의 결말로부터 후편이 시작됩니다.
