We all know that there’s no place like home.

우리는 모두 어디에도 집만 한 곳이 없다는 것을 안다.

But sadly, there are many people without homes.

그러나 슬프게도, 집이 없는 사람들이 많이 있다.

Habitat for Humanity builds houses for these poor people.

‘해비타트(Habitat for Humanity)’는 이런 가난한 사람들을 위해 집을 짓는다.

It is a charity which started in 1976.

그것은 1976년에 시작된 자선 단체이다.

Using volunteer workers, it builds new houses all around the world.

해비타트는 자원봉사자들을 이용하여, 전 세계에 새 집을 짓는다.

There are two important rules at Habitat.

해비타트에는 2가지 중요한 규정이 있다.

First, the homes are not free.

첫째, 집들은 무료가 아니다.

The homeowners have to pay for them.

집주인들은 그것들에 대해 돈을 지불해야 한다.

The money is then used when Habitat builds other homes.

그 돈은 그다음에 해비타트가 다른 집들을 지을 때 사용된다.

Of course, the price is very cheap.

물론 그 가격은 매우 저렴하다.

Second, the owners have to help the volunteers build their new homes.

둘째, 집주인들은 자원봉사자들이 그들의 새 집을 짓는 것을 도와야 한다.

There is a good reason for these rules.

이 규정들에는 충분한 이유가 있다.

Habitat knows that homeowners feel pleased and proud when they pay for and build their own homes.

해비타트는 집주인들이 그들 자신의 집을 위해 돈을 내고 그 집을 (직접) 지을 때 즐거워하며 자랑스러워한다는 것을 안다.

Homeowners are not the only ones who feel good about the new homes.

새 집들에 대해 기뻐하는 사람들은 집주인들만이 아니다.

The volunteers who work at Habitat also feel proud.

해비타트에서 일하는 자원봉사자들 또한 자랑스러움을 느낀다.

This is because they know their work can change other people’s lives.

이것은 그들이 자신들의 일이 다른 사람들의 삶을 변화시킬 수 있다는 것을 알기 때문이다.

In the end, everyone’s life is better thanks to Habitat for Humanity.

결국 해비타트 덕분에 모두의 삶이 더 좋아진다.
