Here are two students’ opinions on space research.

여기 우주 연구에 대한 두 학생의 의견이 있다.

Sabrina: There are many serious problems here on Earth.

사브리나: 이곳 지구에는 많은 심각한 문제들이 있어요.

So it doesn’t make sense to spend billions of dollars on space research.

그래서 우주 연구에 수십억 달러를 쓰는 것은 말이 안 돼요.

Thousands of people die of hunger every day.

날마다 수천 명의 사람들이 기아로 죽어가요.

Some people say we can get useful resources from space.

어떤 사람들은 우리가 우주로부터 유용한 자원들을 얻을 수 있다고 말해요.

But there are resources here on Earth that aren’t used enough yet.

하지만 이곳 지구에도 아직 충분히 사용되지 않는 자원들이 있어요.

Why don’t we spend money on solar energy and wind energy instead?

(우주 연구에 돈을 쓰는) 대신에 태양 에너지와 풍력 에너지에 돈을 쓰는 건 어떨까요?

José: Most importantly, humans must plan for the future.

호세: 가장 중요한 것은 인간이 미래를 위한 계획을 세워야 한다는 것이에요.

After many years, Earth may become too hot and too crowded to live on.

오랜 세월이 흐른 뒤 지구는 너무 덥거나 너무 붐벼서 살 수 없게 될지도 몰라요.

So we should keep using space research to look for other places to live in space.

그래서 우리는 계속 우주 연구를 이용해서 우주에서 살 만한 다른 장소들을 찾아야 해요.

Also, curiosity is the start of all science.

또한, 호기심은 모든 과학의 시작이에요.

Without it, we might still be living in caves!

그것이 없었다면 우리는 아직도 동굴에서 살고 있을지도 몰라요!

Our curiosity helps us do amazing things.

우리의 호기심은 우리가 놀라운 일들을 하게 도와줘요.
