Most art museums don’t want visitors to use the camera flash when they take pictures.

대부분의 미술관은 방문객들이 사진을 찍을 때 카메라 플래시를 사용하는 것을 원하지 않는다.

But why?

Camera flashes can hurt paintings!

카메라 플래시는 그림을 손상시킬 수 있어서이다!

It sounds strange, but it’s true.

이상하게 들리지만 그것은 사실이다.

A camera flash creates heat and light.

카메라 플래시는 열과 빛을 발생시킨다.

Heat and light can damage the canvas that the painting is on.

열과 빛은 그림이 그려져 있는 캔버스를 훼손시킬 수 있다.

They can even damage the paint itself.

Of course, one camera flash cannot hurt a painting.

But museums are worried about the effect of many flashes over many years.
