You’ve probably heard of the Red Cross.

These organizations help people in ways governments are unable to.

When there’s a disaster anywhere in the world, for example, the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders can go there and save lives.

In a similar way, Greenpeace works to help the environment, and Amnesty International protects human rights.

There are also millions of smaller NGOs all around the world.
