트로이 목마

Even after the death of Achilles, the Trojan War reached a point where no one could win.

아킬레스의 죽음 이후에도, 트로이 전쟁은 아무도 이길 수 없는 지점에 이르렀다.

One day, the Greeks came up with an idea.

어느날, 그리스인들은 아이디어를 생각해냈다.

They built a big wooden horse and left it outside the city of Troy.

그들은 큰 목재로 된 말을 만들어서 트로이 도시의 바깥에 그것을 두고 떠났다.

They pretended to leave the horse behind as a gift for the Trojans.

그들은 목마를 트로이인들에게 선물로 남긴 척했다.

The Trojans thought they had won, so they pulled the horse inside their city gates.

트로이인들은 그들이 승리했다고 생각하여 목마를 그들의 성문 안으로 끌어들였다.

However, the Greeks had hidden their soldiers inside the horse.

그러나 그리스인들은 목마 안에 병사들을 숨겨 두었다.

That night, the soldiers came out of the horse and opened the gates to let in the Greek army waiting outside.

그날 밤, 병사들은 목마에서 나와 성문을 열어 밖에서 기다리고 있는 그리스군을 들여보냈다.

This allowed the Greeks to win the war.

이것이 그리스인들을 전쟁에서 승리할 수 있게 한 것이다.

Nowadays, people use the idiom “Trojan horse” to describe a trick or scheme that is used to hide someone’s true purpose or intention.

오늘날, 사람들은 “트로이 목마”라는 관용어를 누군가의 진정한 목적이나 의도를 숨기기 위해 사용되는 속임수나 계획을 묘사하는 데 사용한다.
