The Boy Who Chooses an Easy and Familiar Path

쉽고 익숙한 길을 선택한 소년

Let’s start with the path of avoidance.

회피의 길부터 시작해 봅시다.

The boy waits for his dad and concentrates hard.

소년은 그의 아빠를 기다리며 열심히 집중합니다.

When the ball comes flying across the net rapidly, he misses it completely.

공이 네트를 가로질러 빠르게 날아오자, 그는 공을 완전히 놓칩니다.

He puts his hands on his knees and sighs.

그는 무릎에 손을 올리고 한숨을 내쉽니다.

“Never mind,” says his dad, “Try again. Practice makes perfect.”

“신경 쓰지 마렴.” 아빠가 말합니다. “다시 해 봐. 연습이 완벽을 만든단다.”

When the boy serves the ball, it returns with full force, hitting and bruising his elbow.

소년이 공을 서브하자, 그것은 전력으로 돌아와 그의 팔꿈치를 치고 멍이 들게 합니다.

The boy is not having much fun.

소년은 별로 재미를 느끼지 못하고 있습니다.

He sets the paddle on the table, saying, “I have had enough,” and leaves for his room.

그는 “저는 충분히 했어요,” 라고 말하며 탁구대 위에 탁구채를 놓고 방으로 떠납니다.

His dad asks for another game the next week, but the boy still has some pain in his elbow and just does not feel like taking up the challenge.

그의 아빠는 다음 주에 또 다른 게임을 하자고 요청하지만 소년은 여전히 팔꿈치에 약간의 통증이 있고 도전에 응하고 싶지 않습니다.

When his mom suggests playing against his older brother, he turns down her suggestion because his brother is very tough.

그의 엄마가 그의 형과 시합을 하라고 제안했을 때 그의 형은 아주 강하기 때문에 그는 엄마의 제안을 거절합니다.

“No, thanks,” sighs the boy.

“아니요, 괜찮아요.” 소년은 한숨을 내쉽니다.

“He’s going to be better than me anyway.”

“어쨌든 그는 나보다 나을 거예요.”

In his eyes, challenges are nothing more than obstacles, and he holds onto the belief that they are best avoided.

그의 눈에 도전은 장애물에 불과하며 그는 그것들을 피하는 것이 가장 좋다는 믿음을 고수합니다.
