Plastic on Our Plates

우리 접시 위의 플라스틱

Plastics are everywhere.

플라스틱은 모든 곳에 있다.

There are even plastics in food.

음식에도 플라스틱이 있다.

How surprising!

People use a lot of plastic.

사람들은 플라스틱을 많이 사용한다.

They throw plastic trash in the ocean.

그들은 바다에 플라스틱 쓰레기를 버린다.

The plastic turns into very small pieces.

플라스틱은 아주 작은 조각들로 변한다.

They are known as microplastics.

그것은 미세플라스틱으로 알려져 있다.

Fish and other sea animals take in microplastics.

물고기와 다른 바다 동물들은 미세플라스틱을 섭취한다.

People eat fish and shellfish.

사람들은 물고기와 조개를 먹는다.

That means people eat the microplastics in them.

그것은 사람들이 그들 안에 있는 미세플라스틱을 먹는다는 것을 의미한다.

Fruits and vegetables also have microplastics. How?

과일과 채소에도 미세플라스틱이 있다. 어떻게?

There are microplastics in the ground.

“Sólarfrí” is an Icelandic word for “sun holiday.”

‘솔라르프리’는 ‘햇빛 휴가’를 뜻하는 아이슬란드 단어이다.

On this day, offices and shops take a surprise day off.

이날에, 사무실과 가게는 깜짝 휴가를 얻는다.

Schools take a day off, too.

학교도 하루 쉰다.

Everyone goes outside to enjoy the sun.

모두가 햇볕을 즐기기 위해 밖으로 나간다.

Iceland has sólarfrí because of its weather.

아이슬란드에는 날씨 때문에 솔라르프리가 있다.

The weather in Iceland is usually cloudy and snowy.

아이슬란드의 날씨는 보통 흐리고 눈이 많이 내린다.

There are not many sunny days.

화창한 날들이 많지 않다.

So, when it is a nice day, people should enjoy the sunshine.

그래서, 날씨가 좋을 때, 사람들은 햇빛을 즐겨야 한다.

오늘은 솔라르프리이다.

So don’t worry about work or school.
