(G) There are many games here. Why don’t we play a game?

(여) 여기 게임이 많다. 우리 같이 게임하는 게 어때?

(B) Sure! Oh, look over there. Why are people throwing sticks into a pot?

(남) 좋아! 오, 저기 봐. 왜 사람들이 통 안으로 막대기를 던지고 있어?

(G) They are playing tuho.

(여) 그들은 투호를 하고 있어.

(B) What is tuho?

(남) 투호가 뭐야?

(G) It’s a traditional Korean game. You throw sticks into a pot. Then you get points.

(여) 한국의 전통 놀이야. 통 안에 막대기를 던지면 점수를 얻게 돼.

(B) It looks fun! Let’s play it.

(남) 재밌어 보인다! 같이 해보자.

(G) I hear some exciting music.

(여) 신나는 음악이 들려.

(B) I can hear it too. Oh, people are playing nongak.

(남) 나도 들려. 아, 사람들이 농악을 연주하고 있어.

(G) What is nongak?

(여) 농악이 뭐야?

(B) It is traditional Korean music. The performers play many different instruments.

(남) 한국의 전통 음악이야. 연주자들은 많고 다양한 악기를 연주해.

(G) Their clothes look nice too.

(여) 그들의 옷도 멋져 보여.

(B) Yeah. They even dance and play at the same time. Why don’t we go and watch them?

(남) 응. 그들은 심지어 춤추고 동시에 연주도 해. 우리 같이 가서 보는 게 어때?

(G) That sounds great!

(여) 좋은 생각이야!

(B) Why are those people throwing sticks in the air?

(남) 저 사람들은 왜 막대기를 공중으로 던지고 있는 거야?

(G) They are playing yunnori.

(여) 그들은 윷놀이를 하고 있어.

(B) What is yunnori?

(남) 윷놀이가 뭐야?

(G) It is a traditional Korean board game.

(여) 한국의 전통 보드게임이야.

(B) I want to try it, but I don’t know the rules.

(남) 나도 해보고 싶은데, 규칙을 잘 모르겠어.

(G) It’s simple. You just throw four sticks, and they decide your moves. Why don’t we play the game?

(여) 간단해. 막대기 4개만 던지면 너의 움직임이 결정돼. 우리 같이 게임을 해볼래?

(B) Okay. That sounds fun!

(남) 그래. 재밌어 보여!

(G) Hey, Tate. That man is wearing a unique hat. What is it?

(여) 안녕, 테이트. 저 남자 독특한 모자를 쓰고 있네. 뭐야?

(B) It is a gat. It’s a traditional Korean hat.

(남) 갓이야. 한국의 전통 모자야.

(G) I see. It looks nice.

(여) 그렇구나. 좋아 보인다.

(B) Yes. In the past, men wore a gat when they went out.

(남) 응. 과거에 남자들이 외출할 때 갓을 썼어.

(G) Interesting. It goes well with hanbok.

(여) 흥미로워. 한복이랑 잘 어울리네.

(B) Right. And it’s light and cool. Why don’t we try on a gat?

(남) 맞아. 그리고 가볍고 시원해. 우리 갓을 써보는 게 어때?

(G) Sure. Where can we do that?

(여) 좋아. 어디서 할 수 있어?

(B) There’s a hanbok shop over there. Let’s go.

(남) 저기 한복 가게가 있어. 가자.

(G) Hi, Yejun! How was your trip to Andong?

(여) 안녕, 예준아! 안동 여행은 어땠어?

(B) It was great! I watched a Hahoe talchum performance.

(남) 좋았어! 나는 하회 탈춤 공연을 봤어.

(G) What is Hahoe talchum?

(여) 하회탈춤이 뭐야?

(B) It is a traditional Korean dance drama. The dancers wear masks and dance to exciting music.

(남) 한국의 전통 무용극이야. 무용수들이 가면을 쓰고 신나는 음악에 맞춰 춤을 춰.

(G) Sounds interesting! What else did you do?

(여) 재미있겠다! 또 뭐 했어?

(B) I ate jjimdak. Andong is famous for jjimdak! It is a chicken dish, and it’s delicious.

(남) 찜닭을 먹었어. 안동은 찜닭으로 유명해! 닭고기 요리인데, 아주 맛있어.

(G) Wow, I really want to try it.

(여) 와, 나도 정말 먹어보고 싶다.

(B) Why don’t we eat jjimdak together sometime?

(남) 언제 같이 찜닭을 먹는 게 어때?

(G) I’d love to!

(여) 좋지!

(B) Mom, what are you reading?

(남) 엄마, 뭐 읽고 계세요?

(W) I’m reading a book about beautiful places in Korea.

(여) 나는 한국의 아름다운 장소들에 관한 책을 읽고 있어.

(B) Sounds interesting.

(남) 재미있겠네요.

(W) Jungnogwon looks so amazing!

(여) 죽녹원은 정말 멋져 보여!

(B) What is Jungnogwon?

(남) 죽녹원이 뭐예요?

(W) It is a bamboo forest in Damyang.

(여) 담양에 있는 대나무 숲이야.

(B) It looks wonderful! Why don’t we go there this Sunday?

(남) 아주 멋져 보여요! 이번 주 일요일에 거기에 가는 게 어때요?

(W) That’s a fantastic idea.

(여) 정말 멋진 생각이야.
