The Stolen Bicycle

도난 당한 자전거

Pietro worked for a movie theater.

피에트로는 영화관에서 일했어요.

He rode his bike around the city and put up posters.

그는 자전거를 타고 도시를 돌아다니며 포스터를 붙였죠.

He then gave all the money he earned to his parents.

그러고는 자신이 번 돈을 모두 부모님께 드렸어요.

One day, Pietro was riding his bike and putting up a lot of posters.

어느 날, 피에트로가 자전거를 타고 많은 포스터를 붙이고 있었어요.

He was tired and thirsty, so he stopped and went into a store.

그는 피곤하고 목이 말라서, 가던 길을 멈추고 가게로 들어갔어요.

When he came out, his bike was gone!

그가 나왔을 때 그의 자전거가 사라져 있었어요!

He looked everywhere, but he couldn’t find his bike.

그는 구석구석 찾아봤지만 자전거를 찾을 수 없었죠.

It had been stolen!

도난을 당한 거예요!

Now Pietro couldn’t do his job.

이제 피에트로는 일을 할 수 없었어요.

What would his family do?

그의 가족은 뭘 해야 할까요?

He walked home sadly.

그는 슬프게 집으로 걸어갔어요.

Then, something caught his eye.

그때 뭔가 그의 눈길을 끌었어요.

It was a shiny red bike leaning against a wall.

그것은 벽에 기대 있는 반짝거리는 빨간 자전거였죠.

No one was around.

주위에는 아무도 없었어요.

He could take the bike and solve his problem.

그는 자전거를 가져가서 문제를 해결할 수 있었죠.

Pietro thought about it.

피에트로는 그것에 관해 생각했어요.

The bike belonged to someone else.

자전거는 다른 사람의 것이었죠.

That person probably also needed it.

그 사람은 아마도 자전거가 필요할 거예요.

Taking it would be wrong, so he continued going home.

그것을 가져가는 것은 잘못된 일일 테니까, 그는 집으로 가던 길을 계속 갔어요.

The next day, Pietro went to work.

다음 날, 피에트로는 직장에 갔어요.

When he got there, the owner of the theater wanted to talk to him.

그가 거기에 도착했을 때, 영화관의 주인이 그와 이야기하기를 원했어요.

His parents had called her about his problem.

피에트로의 부모님이 그의 문제에 관해 그녀에게 전화했었던 거죠.

She said that, because he was a good worker, she had bought him a new bicycle!

그녀는 피에트로가 훌륭한 직원이기 때문에 그를 위해 새 자전거를 샀다고 말했어요.
