The Two-Year-Old Artist

My name’s Helen, and I’m a teacher who loves art.

제 이름은 헬렌이고, 저는 미술을 사랑하는 선생님입니다.

My son Paul is a famous artist, but he’s only two!

제 아들 폴은 유명한 미술가지만, 겨우 두 살이에요!

Paul began painting very early.

폴은 아주 일찍 그림을 시작했어요.

I would put paper and paints in front of him.

제가 그의 앞에 종이와 물감을 놓곤 했죠.

He just used his hands and fingers to paint.

폴은 그냥 그의 손과 손가락을 사용해서 그렸어요.

His paintings showed a lot of talent.

그의 그림은 많은 재능을 보였죠.

Of course, I thought they were what you’d expect from a little child.

They were wild and bright with big splashes and messy lines everywhere.

However, I soon discovered that they looked a lot like paintings by famous artists.

I showed Paul’s paintings to my friend Sarah, who’s an art critic.

저는 미술 비평가인 제 친구 사라에게 폴의 그림을 보여줬죠.

She wanted to see what other people thought and posted some of his paintings on her website.

She also gave them interesting titles and descriptions.

Within a few days, there was a lot of excitement on the website.

People loved Paul’s artwork and wrote comments about it.

Then, Sarah took some of Paul’s paintings to an art gallery.

The gallery owner was amazed.

He even asked to have an exhibition of Paul’s work.

그는 폴의 작품 전시회를 열자고 요청하기까지 했어요.

When Sarah told him how old Paul was, he was shocked.

사라가 그에게 폴이 몇 살인지 말했을 때 그는 충격을 받았죠.

Paul’s paintings are good, but I never thought this would happen!
