Marshmallows are a soft and tasty snack.

마시멜로는 부드럽고 맛있는 간식이다.

They are used in puddings, chocolate bars, and many other desserts.

But what does “marshmallow” mean?

The word “marshmallow” comes from a plant’s name and the place it grows.

This plant is called a wild mallow.

It grows in wetlands called marshes.

Long ago, Greeks used marshmallows to heal injuries.

They were like medicine!

Later, Egyptians made a dessert with them.

They mixed them with nuts and honey.

But modern marshmallows came from France.

This cream is usually vanilla flavored, and chocolate cookies are typically used.

Whoopie pies are certainly a delicious treat.

But where did their unusual name come from?

According to one legend, excited children would yell “Whoopee!” when they received one.

People have been enjoying whoopie pies for many years, and they are still popular today.

In fact, in 2011, the whoopie pie even became the official state treat of the US state of Maine.

My mom took my picture next to a Lego lion.

We stood in line for a long time.

When we finally reached the front of the line, I was very excited.

First, we rode through a castle made out of thousands of Lego pieces.

Have you ever seen a prairie dog?

Aren’t you curious about why we are called prairie dogs?

First, a prairie is a large area of flat, grassy land.

That’s where we live.

Second, we are called dogs because of the barking sound we make.

Well, we have many predators, such as eagles and coyotes.

When we feel danger from them, we bark loudly to warn our family and friends.

You can imagine how important our barking sound is.

Their homes are made up of many tunnels and rooms.

Each room has a different purpose.

There is also a special room near the entrance.
