Grandpa and I walk in the woods.

Grandpa points to a tree stump.

“Let’s stop here and rest,” he says.

We sit on the stump.

“How old is this tree?” asks Grandpa.

“이 나무는 몇 살일까?” 하고 할아버지가 물어요.

“I don’t know,” I say.

“모르겠어요,” 하고 내가 말해요.

“Count the tree rings,” says Grandpa.

“나이테를 세어 봐,” 하고 할아버지가 말해요.

The tree has thirty rings.

나무에는 서른 개의 나이테가 있어요.

“It is thirty years old,” says Grandpa.

“이것은 서른 살이란다,” 하고 할아버지가 말해요.

I touch Grandpa’s wrinkles.

나는 할아버지의 주름을 만져요.

“Are these your rings, Grandpa?” I ask.

“이게 할아버지의 나이테예요, 할아버지?” 하고 내가 물어요.

Grandpa laughs.

할아버지가 웃어요.

There was a boy from a small town in France.

프랑스의 작은 마을에 한 소년이 있었어요.

His name was Jean-Henri Fabre.

그의 이름은 Jean-Henri Fabre였어요.

Fabre was interested in insects.

Fabre는 곤충들에 관심이 많았어요.

He had many questions about them.

Astronauts have interesting lives.
