Boats are made to float on the sea.

보트는 바다에 떠다니기 위해 만들어진다.

Old boats are often thrown away.

오래된 보트는 보통 버려진다.

But one fishing village in northern France didn’t throw them away.

그러나 프랑스 북부의 한 어촌은 그것들을 버리지 않았다.

The people of the village turned them into houses!

그 마을의 사람들은 그것들을 집으로 바꾸었다!

At the beginning of the 1900s, these people brought old boats onto the ground.

They turned them upside down and cut out a door and windows.

The old boats were turned into long, one-room houses!

In World War II, most of these houses were destroyed.

But the villagers wanted to continue their tradition.

Instead of new modern houses, they made better houses from old boats.

Today, over 3,000 people live in these houses.

Ants have a secret: they have two stomachs!

One is for themselves, and the other is for sharing food.

The second stomach is sometimes called the “social stomach.”

After an ant eats enough food, it stores extra food in its social stomach.

The food in this stomach is used for other hungry ants.

When a hungry ant sees another ant with food, it signals with its antennae.

The hungry ant says, “Feed me.”

The ant with extra food vomits some out of its social stomach.

In this way, the social stomach is important for ants.

Some ant species can expand their social stomachs to extreme sizes.

When they are full, they look like balloons.

One ant can feed the entire colony!
