An emu is a giant bird that lives in Australia.

에뮤는 호주에 사는 거대한 새이다.

A tourist who knew all about this bird wanted to take a picture of one.

이 새에 관한 모든 것을 아는 어떤 관광객이 에뮤 한 마리의 사진을 찍고 싶어 했다.

When the man got near the emu, the bird suddenly ran toward him.

그 남자가 에뮤에게 다가갔을 때, 그 새는 갑자기 그를 향해 달려왔다.

It tried to attack his eyes with its beak.

에뮤는 부리로 그의 눈을 공격하려고 했다.

However, the man was clever.

그러나 그 남자는 영리했다.

He knew that the tallest emu is always the "boss."

그는 가장 키가 큰 에뮤가 항상 ‘우두머리’라는 것을 알고 있었다.

He also knew that the tallest emu often attacks the smaller ones with its beak.

그는 또한 가장 키가 큰 에뮤가 종종 작은 에뮤들을 부리로 공격한다는 것도 알고 있었다.

This way it shows who the boss is.

이런 방식으로 그것은 우두머리가 누구인지 보여 주는 것이다.

So, the emu was trying to attack the tourist because the tourist was shorter.

그래서 그 에뮤는 그 관광객이 자기보다 작기 때문에 그 관광객을 공격하려고 했다.

What did the tourist do?

그 관광객은 어떻게 했을까?

He raised his arms.

그는 양팔을 들었다.

At once, the emu stopped.

즉시, 에뮤는 멈춰 섰다.

Now the man was taller than the bird.

이제는 그 남자가 에뮤보다 (키가) 컸다.

He took a nice picture, turned around, and walked away ― still holding his arms high in the air!

그는 멋진 사진을 찍고, 돌아서서, 걸어 나갔는데, 여전히 자신의 팔을 공중에 높이 든 채였다!
