그런데 왜 그 봉우리들은 세 자매봉이라고 불리게 되었을까?
According to aboriginal legends, there were three sisters named Meehni, Wimlah, and Gunnedoo who lived in the Jamison Valley as members of the Katoomba tribe.
호주 원주민의 전설에 따르면, 자미슨 골짜기에서 카툼바 족의 일원으로서 살고 있었던 미니, 윔라, 구네두라는 세자매가 있었다.
These beautiful young ladies fell in love with three brothers from the Nepean tribe, but marriage between the two tribes was forbidden.
이 아름다운 젊은 여성들은 네피안 족 출신의 세 형제와 사랑에 빠졌지만, 두 부족 간의 결혼은 금지되어 있었다.
The outraged brothers decided to capture the three sisters, sparking a great battle between the tribes.
격분한 형제들은 세 자매를 납치하기로 결정했고, 이는 부족들 간에 큰 전투를 일으켰다.
In order to protect the three sisters from all of the fighting, a witch doctor from the Katoomba tribe turned them into stone.
세 자매를 그 모든 전투에서 보호하기 위하여, 카툼바 족의 한 주술사가 그들을 돌로 변하게 했다.
He had intended to trans-form them back into humans when the battle was over, but he was killed during the fighting.
그는 전투가 끝나면 그들을 다시 사람으로 되돌려놓을 작정이었지만, 그는 전투 중에 죽고 말았다.
Since there was no one to change the sisters back, they remain to this day as magnificent stone pillars overlooking the valley.
그들을 다시 되돌려놓을 사람이 아무도 없었기 때문에 자매들은 오늘날까지 골짜기를 내려다보는 아름다운 돌기둥으로 남아 있다.
