Why does an elephant walk with heavy steps?

When an elephant wants to talk to other elephants, it hits the ground with its feet.

코끼리가 다른 코끼리들과 소통하기를 원할 때, 코끼리는 발로 땅을 내리친다.

Why in the world?

도대체 왜 그럴까?

An elephant has special foot pads and can feel shaking from far away.

코끼리는 특별한 발바닥을 가졌고 멀리서 흔들림을 감지할 수 있다.

So, when an elephant sends a thump, other elephants can get the message from far away.

그러므로 한 코끼리가 쿵 하고 보내면, 다른 코끼리들은 멀리서 메시지를 받을 수 있다.
