You’ve probably seen astronauts working outside their spacecraft on TV.

This is called a spacewalk.

Astronauts go on spacewalks to build or fix things on their spacecraft.

Of course there are systems like a radio, a battery, and a computer to let the astronaut work in space.

Considering all the parts, it’s not surprising that a spacesuit weighs about 280 kg.

Thanks to weightlessness in space, however, astronauts can do great work in this heavy suit.

Before going on a spacewalk, astronauts need more than just a spacesuit — they need lots of training.
